Today's Subject Will Be:

Porcelain Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method generally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
