Why Pick Same Day Crowns?

It is extremely important for a individual to have a strong and healthy set of teeth. However, there are some cases where dental cavity development is inevitable. It is frequently triggered by the person's diet, habits and hygiene. Cavities that are not managed early may trigger extensive damage to the tooth's enamel which might need a dental crown to restore its natural look and function.

A dental crown is a cap shaped like a tooth which is used to cover the tooth that has gone through substantial damage triggered by dental cavities. Getting it usually needs 2 dental appointments. During the first appointment, your broken tooth is cleaned up and the decayed part is removed. The dentist will then get the impression of your tooth that required the crown and will send it to a dental laboratory where traditional dental crowns were made. It could be made from a metal, ceramic or porcelain material. Only throughout the second visit, your custom-fitted dental crown is cemented to your broken tooth.

With the advancement in dental innovation, the process of getting and wearing a dental crown has actually been made readily available. Dental practitioners use the new technology in making inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. After your broken tooth is prepared, they will use an intraoral camera that will take the picture of your affected tooth and have it submitted to a computer. It will use a computer-aided design in taking the digital impression of your teeth and the impression is sent to the computer-aided manufacturing device which will mill a color-matched ceramic block to your same day crowns. Choosing a same day crown over a standard dental crown has its benefits and disadvantages.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it requires root canal therapy. Once this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. When the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
