Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
