3 Reasons To Consider Same Day Crowns

If you've ever had a crown positioned over one of your teeth previously, you know that the process generally includes a minimum of two visits to the dental practitioner and the placement of a short-term crown prior to you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a brand-new procedure for installing crowns that can allow you to get a long-term crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices enables crowns to be produced right there close to the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a couple of reasons that same day crowns might be right for you.

More Attractive Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, eliminating the need for metal. While metal crowns are perfectly functional and safe, they're frequently thought as less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Less Wasted Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Needing to go back to the dentist's office a number of times for one procedure may mean getting time off at work authorized for more than one day, getting a sitter for more than one day, or filling your car with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

Any which way you take a look at it, multiple dental appointments cost you money, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything done in one visit saves time, and time is money.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and after that is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the precise specs supplied by the digital scan.

This enables the dental practitioner to keep as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest alternative for your jaw.

This also permits the dental practitioner to use the device to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more coverage than a filling will supply but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements offered by the same day crown device, teeth that may once have required a complete crown may now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you know that one of your broken teeth will probably need a crown, be sure to make a visit with our dentists today.

Today's Topic Has To Do With:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific circumstances where a tooth has actually been damaged or become stained. These are generally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this fairly affordable means instead of through a more expensive dental procedure.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the alignment of the tooth, close spaces in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material sticks to the surface area. Then the material itself is put on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to obtain a shiny finish as a last step.
