Do you need to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be needing a dental treatment that will cause you to require a dental crown? If so, you might be starting to dread the time you will have to invest at the dentist's office. At our dental practice, we offer a terrific time-saving solution for you. We provide same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have expert and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we integrate advanced innovations and procedures to provide our patients with the very best restorative, precautionary, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are very happy to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is generally made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help strengthen the tooth and improve its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top part of a dental implant, or to prevent a damaged tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to enhance a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely aesthetic reasons, such as to cover a badly stained tooth that has to be brought back to its initial, attractive appearance.

Normally getting a dental crown is a prolonged treatment. The dental practitioner will need to take impressions, supply you with a short-term crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a lab, then have you come back to the office so that it can be permanently attached. Today at our practice clients can get same day crowns in about two hours.

Our same day crowns are developed in our office thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM stands for "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take photos which are then computer-analyzed and used to produce a crown.

This crown is really milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth precisely and eliminate any need to send impressions or photos to an outside lab.

All this is done while you wait, getting rid of the need to return for a second visit.

You also will not need to get a temporary crown, given that our long-term crown will be immediately available to you.

If you want to meet with our dental practitioner to get more information about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, call our office.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with many dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect method usually involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
