Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
