At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that enables us to replace broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one visit. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single visit, usually in about an hour.

So what is the treatment?

We scan the opposite teeth and the method the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and degeneration and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and begin working with the computer.

Everybody likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the creating of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent to the milling unit.

Everyone asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't built up layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the device, which is much stronger.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the customized crown restoration bonded perfectly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We need to make sure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

The Conversation For Today Is:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are a number of methods to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will bleach teeth considerably. Since tooth bleaching just works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use numerous techniques: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office lightening.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is recommended for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and practical bleaching procedure. The appointment is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
