What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental professional can financially restore broken teeth in a single consultation using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an accurate photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second appointment has been eliminated. This brand-new innovation has over 10 years of scientific research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven precise, safe and reliable.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

Porcelain Tooth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with most dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is generally referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy normally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
