Porcelain Teeth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
