Today's Conversation Is About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most clients, there are numerous ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth considerably. Because tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of techniques: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of everyday use. Three various strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take multiple months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and hassle-free whitening procedure. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
