Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to a lot of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still very resilient and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
