Why Choose Single Day Crowns?

There are numerous benefits of single day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one appointment, conserving you substantial time away from your job and family.

  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a temporary crown, which eliminates significant potential pain and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one visit means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No standard impressions resulting in no gagging.

  • Visual appeals: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this new technology restores your teeth to their natural durability, charm, and function and carefully match the structure of natural tooth structure.

  • Durability: Milled ceramic is stronger than the traditional method of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay stunning for multiple years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and innovation can also be used for fillings. Since they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury consisting of silver fillings and tougher because of bonding technology.

If you have anymore concerns about same day crowns or porcelain crowns, please don't hesitate to call our office today. We will address any concerns you have and you can make an appointment to speak to our dentist personally.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital images of areas needing restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify problems early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even deteriorate the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely unpleasant. Signs that the pulp has actually ended up being infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any issue till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is suggested for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
