If You Need A Dental Crown This Is The Best Option

Getting a crown has actually long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Many individuals have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky patients, getting a crown just takes one visit!

The Old Two Visit Way

At the first visit, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent out to a laboratory so that your permanent crown can be made. Many people dislike the goopy impression materials that can make them gag and that takes up to five minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be positioned on top of it. Then you receive a short-term crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over till your permanent crown shows up from the laboratory. Then later, you need to go back to the dentist, have the short-term crown removed and the brand-new crown positioned on your tooth

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad scope of indications: inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns and veneers.

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a lovely and appealing smile.

Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Placed?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.

You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
