Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
