What Are The Advantages Of Same Day Crowns?

There are multiple benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over standard, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is carried out in a single appointment, you only have to see the dental practitioner once, take one day from your schedule to have the procedure, instead of the usual 2 or three visits.

  • Only one set of local, given that the whole procedure can be carried out within an hour you only have to have one injection.

  • Your dentist remains in complete control of the final outcome, because the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have total control over how it will look and fit.

  • No short-term restorations, which can frequently fall off between appointments if they are not taken care of properly.

Today's Topic Is:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are numerous ways to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth lightening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Since tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of techniques: custom made tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray method involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and convenient whitening process. The visit is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients like this treatment because it is so easy and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays should be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
