Today Were Discussing:
Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like many dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
