We always stay on the cutting-edge for our valued patients!

What Are Single Day Dental Crowns?

It is a technology for restoring damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to our office. It makes your teeth tougher and more beautiful - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the top-quality ceramic material and works with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Throughout your visit, you and your dental practitioner will discuss the details of the treatment and your dental practitioner will answer any questions you might have regarding the treatment or porcelain crowns in general.

Your dental practitioner will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the brand-new proprietary software, your restoration will be developed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, it will use a diamond burs to create your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure providing the tooth a longer life span than it would have if restored by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be brought back with a filling. They are most typically done after root canal treatments, or when a large filling wears out. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a big cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Bear in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth are subjected to remarkable pressures. Crowns ride over the weakened tooth, providing strength and securing the tooth against damage. A damaged or cracked tooth is a far more severe matter and much more tough to treat. Crowns prevent this, along with making for a nice smile.

It takes two appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. In the first appointment any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, generally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A temporary crown is worn during this time. In the second visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed then cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Involve?

A crown procedure typically needs two appointments. Your first appointment will include taking impressions that will be utilized to develop your customized crown. A mold will also be utilized to produce a temporary crown which will stay on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks until your new crown is produced by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dental practitioner will prepare the tooth by removing any decay and shaping the surface area to properly fit the crown. As soon as these details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be placed with temporary cement and your bite will be examined to guarantee you are biting appropriately.

At your second visit your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to ensure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care guidelines and encouraged to have routine dental visits to check your crown. As always, correct oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
