Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
