Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
