If You Require A Dental Crown This Is Most Likely The Best Route To Go

Getting a crown has actually long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Lots of people have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky clients, getting a crown only takes one appointment!

The Old Two-Visit Way

At the first visit, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent out to a lab so that your permanent crown can be made. Many individuals dislike the goopy impression materials that can make them gag and that takes up to 5 minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be placed on top of it. Then you get a short-term crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over till your long-term crown shows up from the lab. Then later, you need to go back to the dentist, have the short-term crown taken out and the new crown positioned on your tooth

The Conversation Of The Day Is:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of the majority of clients, there are numerous ways to whiten teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple approaches: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely fast and hassle-free whitening procedure. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment because it is so easy and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
