Same day crowns are an sophisticated dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, split, or cracked teeth. This innovation can develop full crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made from compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most useful feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one appointment. In addition to the advantage of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a short-term crown to wear.

The treatment for placement of a same day crown restoration is extremely simple. The initial step is to get rid of all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital picture. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This permits the digital camera to take an appropriate image. When this image is recorded, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will enable the dentist to design the restoration right in front of you.

As soon as the design is completed, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes around 15 minutes. You can actually view this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, the dental practitioner will position the restoration on your tooth.

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. Today's Topic Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a terribly damaged joint.
