Our practice likes new technology, particularly when it enhances the dental care that we can offer to our clients. Because of this we now offer same day crowns.

Same day crowns are a remarkable new innovation where gorgeous all porcelain crowns are produced within two hours of the preparation of a tooth for a crown. The old procedure was where the dentist prepared your tooth for a crown, took an impression and sent this impression to a lab to get the crown constructed. Throughout this time the client would have to wear a short-term plastic crown that was normally uncomfy.

Today, our devices permits us to scan the tooth preparation and mill out a new all porcelain crown within two hours. This means that the client leaves our office with the final crown that day!

  • There's no need to wear a temporary crown for 2 or 3 weeks.

  • There's no need to return once again to have the single visit crown placed on your tooth.

  • There is no need to be numbed up once again! No more shot needles!

Our office likes same day crowns because it is made of beautiful material as well as extremely durable.

If your interested in a same day crown, please give our practice a call.

Today's Subject Is:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. As soon as this takes place, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be really painful. Signs that the pulp has become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any issue till a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
