If you have a fractured or damaged tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or want to get rid of unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great option for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding durability and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They allow clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another check-up scheduled for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In many cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may differ between the two and you may want to discuss your budget plan too with the your dentist. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the types of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based upon your certain situation.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today Were Discussing:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other kinds of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be brought back with a filling. They are most typically done after root canal treatments, or when a big filling breaks. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a huge cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Keep in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth are subjected to remarkable pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, providing strength and securing the tooth against breakage. A broken or split tooth is a far more severe matter and far more hard to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to making for a good smile.

It takes two visits to bring back a tooth with a crown. In the very first visit any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in producing a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, typically of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is used during this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and after that cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown procedure generally requires 2 appointments. Your first visit will include taking impressions that will be utilized to develop your customized crown. A mold will also be used to produce a temporary crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks up until your brand-new crown is fabricated by a dental laboratory.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and shaping the surface to effectively fit the crown. When these details are accomplished, your short-term crown will be put with temporary cement and your bite will be checked to guarantee you are biting properly.

At your 2nd appointment your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to make sure the spacing and bite are accurate.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to check your crown. As always, correct oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
