2 Benefits Provided By Same Day Crowns

Crowns can frequently be a bit of a headache to obtain, primarily because traditional crowns will often need numerous visits prior to the procedure is actually completed.

Nevertheless, many dental practitioners have actually opted to acquire the necessary tools to produce same day crowns within their practice.

Listed below are just 2 of the great benefits provided by selecting a same day crown:

It Is Convenient
Looking for time to get a traditional crown can be more than a bit challenging for any individual that has a hectic work or home life.

It can be very hard to persuade your employer let you take time off in the middle of the work day at least twice in the span of a few weeks to complete the process.

This is required for a crown procedure as you will need to see the dentist to have your tooth prepared for the crown and after that go in again a week or more later in order to have the final crown applied.

However, you do not have to worry about asking for time off multiple times or to find a babysitter for your kids more than once during a same day crown procedure.

Since the dentist can fabricate your crown in the office, he or she can normally use the permanent crown as quickly as your tooth is treated and shaped for the crown.

This is excellent as you will not need to run the risk of inconveniencing your boss, colleagues, babysitter, or family.

They Are More Comfortable

Another reason to consider a same day crown is simply because it can be a fair bit less unpleasant than a traditional crown procedure.

This is because the fact that you do not need to wait numerous days or weeks between steps in the crown process entirely negates the requirement for a temporary crown.

Short-term crowns are used to secure your tooth after your preliminary visit till your last crown shows up and is applied.

Unfortunately, short-term crowns will often not fit all that well which can result in liquids and food getting under it and reaching your exposed nerves and causing pain.

In addition, an uncomfortable temporary crown is going to be prone to moving around. This moving can cause the temporary crown to scratch your gums or the inside of your cheeks.

Sure, this kind of crown is only meant to be used for a short period of time, however it can be rather unpleasant for that brief amount of time.

Today's Topic Has To Do With:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure in which we apply a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to harden, and polish it. It can be used in certain scenarios where a tooth has actually been damaged or become stained. These are normally minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably inexpensive means rather than through a more expensive dental procedure.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to modify the alignment of the tooth, close spaces between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a shiny finish as a last step.
