Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
