There are different types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The entire mouth is examined and a determination is made as to which teeth will have to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are put in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. Once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and appearance return and one simply continues as usual. Often implants can be utilized to further support the dentures.
It is essential to note that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the kind of food you are able to eat, your self-esteem in social situations, and even your self-esteem.
A Couple Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the exact same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper complete denture will often feel better than a lower full denture. In order to dramatically improve the fit of a lower complete denture, we often suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. 2 dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly enhance comfort. Often, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for numerous years.
