Same day crowns are an advanced dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, broken, or chipped teeth. This innovation can create complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made from compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one appointment restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The treatment for placement of a same day crown restoration is extremely basic. The first step is to get rid of all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then form the tooth in preparation to take a digital photo. The tooth is then sprayed with a extremely fine powder. This permits the digital camera to take an appropriate image. As soon as this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will allow the dental practitioner to create the restoration right in front of you.

When the design is finished, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes around 15 minutes. You can actually view this process if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dentist will position the restoration on your tooth.

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover issues early). Often deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely painful. Symptoms that the pulp has ended up being infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the individual is unaware of any issue until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. As soon as the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Typically a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
