There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made about which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular functionality and look return and one simply carries on as usual. Often implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.
It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the kind of food you have the ability to eat, your confidence in social circumstances, and even your self-esteem.
A Couple Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the very same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other treatments
An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower complete denture. In order to dramatically enhance the fit of a lower complete denture, we frequently recommend utilizing dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and significantly enhance comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be placed in the jaw after a denture has been in use for multiple years.
