What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dentist can financially restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling machine in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second appointment has been removed. This new innovation has over a decade of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and efficient.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most clients, there are multiple ways to bleach teeth. The most popular technique is utilizing a home tooth whitening system that will whiten teeth considerably. Because tooth lightening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use a number of techniques: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of day-to-day use. 3 various strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the greater the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take numerous months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely fast and hassle-free lightening process. The visit is roughly one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays ought to be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
