Single Day Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you have to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be needing a dental treatment that will cause you to need a dental crown? If so, you may be beginning to dread the time you will have to spend at the dental practitioner's office. At our dental practice, we offer a terrific time-saving solution for you. We provide same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have professional and highly-trained dental practitioners on staff. At our dental practice we include state-of-the-art innovations and treatments to provide our patients with the best restorative, preventive, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who have to get dental crowns, we are very happy to be able to provide same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is typically made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help reinforce the tooth and improve its function.

Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, as the top part of a dental implant, or to prevent a broken tooth from ending up being weaker. Crowns can also be used to enhance a tooth after a root canal treatment.

Crowns are also used for purely visual reasons, such as to cover a severely tarnished tooth that has to be brought back to its initial, appealing appearance.

Typically getting a dental crown is a lengthy treatment. The dental practitioner will need to take impressions, supply you with a temporary crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a lab, and after that have you come back to the office so that it can be permanently attached. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are produced in our office thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM means "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take pictures which are then computer-analyzed and used to produce a crown.

This crown is in fact milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth exactly and get rid of any need to send impressions or images to an outside lab.

All this is done while you wait, eliminating the need to come back for a second visit.

You also will not need to get a short-term crown, because our permanent crown will be immediately available to you.

If you wish to meet our dental practitioner to learn more about same day crowns or to obtain a same day crown, contact our practice.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital imagery of locations needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to make your crown.

CEREC can be used for a wide scope of indications: onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers and inlays.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect problems early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it requires root canal treatment. Once this happens, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it must be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very painful. Symptoms that the pulp has ended up being infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Normally a core build-up and crown is suggested for restoring a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
