Same day crowns are an sophisticated dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, broken, or cracked teeth. This technology can develop full crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most useful feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one appointment. In addition to the advantage of a one visit restoration, there is no unpleasant impression material to bite on or a short-term crown to wear.

The procedure for positioning of a same day crown restoration is extremely simple. The initial step is to eliminate all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital picture. The tooth is then sprayed with a very fine powder. This enables the digital camera to take an appropriate image. As soon as this image is captured, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will enable the dentist to create the restoration right in front of you.

Once the design is finished, the same day crown machine will mill the restoration. This step takes approximately 15 minutes. You can actually view this process if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dentist will place the restoration on your tooth.

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
