At our practice we are proud to have professional and highly-trained dental practitioners on staff. At our dental practice we include advanced technology and treatments to supply our clients with the very best restorative, precautionary, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For patients who need to get dental crowns, we are extremely delighted to be able to provide same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is typically made of porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help strengthen the tooth and enhance its function.

Crowns can also be used to attach bridges, as the top portion of a dental implant, or to prevent a damaged tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to enhance a tooth after a root canal treatment.

Crowns are also used for purely visual reasons, such as to cover a significantly stained tooth that has to be restored to its original, attractive look.

Generally getting a dental crown is a lengthy treatment. The dentist will have to take impressions, offer you with a temporary crown, await the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and then have you come back to the office so that it can be permanently attached. Today at our practice clients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are produced in our office thanks to our CAD-CAM innovation.

CAD-CAM means "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take pictures which are then computer-analyzed and used to develop a crown.

This crown is actually milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth exactly and get rid of any need to send out impressions or pictures to an outside laboratory.

All this is done while you wait, getting rid of the need to come back for a second appointment.

You also will not need to get a crown, because our long-term crown will be instantly available to you.

If you want to consult with our dentist to learn more about same day crowns or to get a same day crown, call our practice.

Today's Discussion Has To Do With:

Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

As with many dental restorations, veneers may at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique normally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect method typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and stunning veneers.
