Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is generally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
