Exactly What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

There are a number of advantages to having treatment with same day crowns over traditional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is carried out in a single appointment, you only have to see the dentist once, take one day away from your life to have the treatment, instead of the typical 2 or three visits.

  • Only one set of local, since the entire treatment can be carried out within an hour you just need to have one injection.

  • Your dentist remains in complete control of the final result, because the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dental practitioner, they have overall control over how it will look and fit.

  • No temporary restorations, which can often fall off in between appointments if they are not cared for correctly.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a badly damaged joint.
