Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
