Why Pick Same Day Crowns?

It is crucial for a individual to have a strong and healthy set of teeth. However, there are some cases where dental cavity formation is unavoidable. It is often brought on by the individual's diet, habits and hygiene. Cavities that are not fixed early might trigger substantial damage to the tooth's enamel which may need a dental crown to restore its natural appearance and function.

A dental crown is a cap shaped like a tooth which is used to cover the tooth that has actually gone through substantial damage caused by dental cavities. Getting it typically needs two dental appointments. During the very first appointment, your broken tooth is cleaned and the decayed part is removed. The dental practitioner will then get the impression of your tooth that required the crown and will send it to a dental laboratory where standard dental crowns were made. It could be made from a metal, ceramic or porcelain material. Only throughout the second appointment, your custom-fitted dental crown is cemented to your broken tooth.

With the development in dental innovation, the process of getting and wearing a dental crown has been made easily available. Dentists use the new technology in making inlays/onlays, crowns and veneers. After your broken tooth is prepared, they will use an intraoral camera that will take the picture of your affected tooth and have it uploaded to a computer. It will use a computer-aided design in taking the digital impression of your teeth and the impression is sent to the computer-aided manufacturing machine which will mill a color-matched ceramic block to your same day crowns. Picking a same day crown over a standard dental crown has its advantages and downsides.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of most clients, there are a number of ways to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth lightening system that will lighten teeth dramatically. Since tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of approaches: custom made tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory makes into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of everyday use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and hassle-free whitening process. The appointment is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients like this treatment since it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays must be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
