Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
