What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new innovation that a dental expert can financially bring back damaged teeth in a single appointment using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a special camera to take an precise photo of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer have to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the standard second visit has been eliminated. This new technology has more than a decade of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and effective.

Today We Will Be Talking About:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device created to replace missing teeth. The device is normally constructed out of titanium and is surgically put into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and traditional bridges or dentures might not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some individuals, dental implants provide a smile that looks and feels extremely natural. Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants connect to the jawbone and function as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants provide stability since they connect to your bone, a process called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some individuals also discover the secure fit is more comfortable than conventional substitutes. Candidates for dental implants should have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

How Involving Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant might be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a small titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which additionally slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. When the implant is firmly embeded in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to connect the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent option has the advantages over bridge work that it does not need the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can simply be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be used as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an option to partial dentures, and has a number of advantages. First, there is no modification period to acclimatize the patient who, when the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no pain or difficulty in eating. And, best of all, of course, they do not have to be taken out all the time.
