Thanks to innovative modern innovations, we are proud to present the ability to provide you with same day crowns - that's right, a brand-new crown in just one appointment! Here's how it works.

Step 1, high resolution digital 3-D impressions are taken with a little camera, a unique camera developed just for this purpose.

Step two, the new software examines the whole image and uses the results to calculate a number of excellent restoration possibilities. Next those possibilities are examined and refined by the doctor and the final restoration plan is chosen.

Step 3 your brand-new crown is made by the cerec machine right in our office and put in your mouth, all in one appointment!

If you would like to know more about the same day crown treatment, call our office and we would be happy to help you.

The Discussion Of The Day Is:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling because new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can lead to tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both kinds of fillings, however find that a lot of their clients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings supply good sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, frequently allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry during the whole filling process and they undergo stain and discoloration with time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend greatly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to repair front teeth that have chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is generally much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
