Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
