Today's Topic Will Be:

Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a gorgeous and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.

The direct strategy normally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.

The indirect strategy typically involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
