Same day crowns are a dental restoration innovation that allows a dentist to produce an indirect ceramic dental restoration using computer-assisted technologies, including 3-D photography and CAD/CAM (computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing).

Same day crowns permits dental practitioners the flexibility to fix teeth in a single sitting with a client, instead of the several appointments needed with other methods!

Same day crowns have actually been proven by numerous clinical research studies and is offered by thousands of dental practitioners to millions of patients around the globe each year!

Same day crowns not just conserves you time and money, it can also conserve your teeth!

Dental X-rays are unable to penetrate metal crowns, making any decay undetected till it was too late.

Same day crowns use a strong porcelain that x-rays can penetrate. This indicates any decay underneath the restoration can be found and fixed before it becomes a major problem.

Because same day crown technology use a milling unit to mill the ceramic into your custom-made restoration, the porcelain is stronger than those developed by hand. And, the computer-assisted innovation can create an almost identical restoration of the previous tooth.

Today We Will Be Discussing:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the affected tooth structure. It is called a filling since new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would require a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two types of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both kinds of fillings, but find that a lot of their patients like the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings offer good sturdiness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to endure moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, typically enabling a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling process and they go through stain and discoloration with time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently used to fix front teeth that have actually chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is typically much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
