Same Day Dental Crowns - A Smart Technology

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are happening in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown innovation in our office. It enables us to create crowns and larger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most sophisticated dental technology, including 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM innovation. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole procedure takes between 1-2 hours and can be finished in one sitting.

Typically, a crown in the past would have required 2 visits. The first visit includes preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a short-term crown. Throughout the 2nd visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the whole treatment can be finished in simply one appointment. We will use video imaging technology to photograph the tooth and use CAD/CAM technology to develop the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transmitted to a milling device that carves the restoration from a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the brand-new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to get a temporary along with a 2nd visit.

Corrective dentistry treatments can be crucial to the general health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a consultation.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a severely damaged joint.
