Too busy for the routine two dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our daily lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is impacting dentistry in new and exciting methods.

Advanced innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less pain and creating rewarding results.

One breakthrough instrument, called same day crowns, enables dental practitioners to quickly fix broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving patients time and inconvenience.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dental practitioner can economically fix broken teeth in a single visit using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner utilizes a special camera to take an accurate image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner utilizes CAD innovation to create the restoration. The CAM takes control and immediately creates the restoration while the client waits.

Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about 2 hours.

What does this development mean for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners don't have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has actually been removed.

Same day crowns have two decades of clinical research study and documentation to support the technology. The restorations have been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

How can I learn if this is an option for me?

Today's Subject Will Be:

Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)

Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Just like the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.

How Are Veneers Applied?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.

The indirect method usually involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
