There are different kinds of dentures, however they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is big enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. Nobody enjoys losing their natural teeth, however you can still eat and talk regularly.
The whole mouth is analyzed and a determination is made regarding which teeth will need to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then extracted. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth stay in the mouth, depending on the type. There is an adjustment period after dentures are placed in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the normal functionality and appearance return and one simply continues as usual. Commonly implants can be utilized to further stabilize the dentures.
It is important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a significant lifestyle change when as compared to natural teeth. Dentures affect the type of food you are able to eat, your confidence in social scenarios, as well as your self-confidence.
A Few Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:
- All Teeth missing in the same arch
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore a natural looking smile
- Economical alternative to other procedures
An upper complete denture will often feel better than a lower complete denture. In order to considerably improve the fit of a lower full denture, we often recommend using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants placed in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and considerably enhance comfort. Sometimes, the implants can even be put in the jaw after a denture has been in use for a number of years.
