Don't have time for the routine two dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many people, however, aren't aware that innovation also is impacting dentistry in brand-new and amazing ways.

Advanced innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less pain and creating gratifying results.

One advancement instrument, called same day crowns, enables dental practitioners to rapidly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, conserving patients time and trouble.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dentist can economically restore broken teeth in a single visit using a premium ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, including a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner utilizes a unique camera to take a precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD innovation to design the restoration. The CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the patient waits.

At lastly, the dental practitioner bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about two hours.

What does this development provide for a client?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dental practitioners no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd visit has actually been eliminated.

Same day crowns have twenty years of clinical research study and paperwork to support the innovation. The restorations have actually been proven exact, safe and efficient.

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the primary aesthetic concern of a lot of clients, there are a number of ways to lighten teeth. The most popular technique is using a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth significantly. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is essential to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists use multiple approaches: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three different strengths of gel may be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is recommended for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and practical lightening process. The visit is approximately one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients like this treatment due to the fact that it is so easy and fast!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
