Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
