Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last many years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method typically involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be made at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
