Why Are They Called Same Day Crowns?

This state-of-the-art technology enables your dental practitioner to take accurate pictures of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and place a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single appointment. Same day crowns provide exceptional convenience, value, and precision to our patients.

How Does The Same Day Crown Technology Work?

The same day crown procedure includes 3 basic steps. 1st, your dentist uses 3D imaging to take highly accurate photos of your tooth and the surrounding structures. 2nd, he downloads these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, develops your custom-fitted crown. 3rd, your dentist will send out the design to their in-office precision milling machine which creates the crown from a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once they stain and glaze the crown for added strength and esthetics, your dental practitioner will position it on your tooth.

What Are The Benefits Of Same Day Crowns?

We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to produce our same day crowns. These metal-free restorations provide incomparable toughness, sturdiness, chip and stain resistance, and natural beauty.

Precision-fitted same day crowns require less tooth prep work and preserve more of your tooth structure.

Traditional crowns need two office appointments. With same day crowns, you can come into our dentist's office for a visit and leave with a perfectly restored tooth.

You can prevent the inconvenience and potential risks related to ill-fitting temporary crowns.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital images of locations requiring restoration and produce the appropriate restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to fabricate your crown.

Today's Subject Is:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
