Why Choose Single Visit Crowns?

There are many advantages of same day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one visit, saving you substantial time away from your job and family.

  • Comfort: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a short-term crown, which eliminates significant possible pain and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one appointment means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No traditional impressions means no gagging.

  • Aesthetics: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this new technology restores your teeth to their natural strength, appeal, and function and carefully match the structure of natural tooth structure.

  • Strength: Milled ceramic is tougher than the traditional technique of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay lovely for years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and technology can also be used for fillings. Because they are made out of porcelain, they are more durable than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury including silver fillings and stronger because of bonding innovation.

If you have any more questions about same day crowns or porcelain crowns, please don't hesitate to contact our office today. We will answer any concerns you have and you can make an appointment to consult with our dental practitioner in person.

Today's Topic Is:

Root Canal

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and discover issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. As soon as this happens, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it should be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even weaken the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really painful. Signs that the pulp has actually become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no signs appear and the person is unaware of any issue until a checkup.

A root canal is then performed to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and disinfect the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Usually a core build-up and crown is suggested for bring back a tooth that has actually had root canal therapy.
