At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may ask, what are same day crowns and what can it provide for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one visit. We have actually now been using this technology for multiple years and love it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that allows us to fix broken or missing tooth structures with a ceramic product that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and fitted in a single visit, usually in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We eliminate the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth material and scan the readied tooth.

After this we stop working in the mouth and begin working on the computer.

Everybody enjoys seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their brand-new tooth. We make 3D design and this information is sent out to the milling unit.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth is not built up layer by layer, it is cut from a block in the machine, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely carved to produce your brand-new restoration, which is great.

Finally, the custom made crown restoration bonded seamlessly into the tooth, reinforcing and sealing it at the same time and after that we clean up!

We need to ensure that you can bite correctly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will develop and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to produce your crown.

CEREC can be used in a broad range of indications: partial crowns, posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

Fillings

Fillings are done to remove decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling since brand-new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can cause tooth discomfort and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists provide both types of fillings, however find that many of their clients choose the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mix of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide good toughness and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dental practitioner prepares the tooth, and this might lead to a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively attached, to the tooth, commonly allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the whole filling process and they are subject to stain and discoloration in time. The life expectancy of a white filling can depend significantly on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to fix front teeth that have cracked or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is generally much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding usually does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
