The Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental procedure that is often needed when someone's tooth is broken or if the tooth has actually broken down to the point where a filling will not be effective.

Typical crowns are relatively troublesome to obtain, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a fantastic option due to the fact that they are easier and result in less discomfort:

Less Pain

A standard crown can result in pain for a few factors, but one of the biggest sources of discomfort and pain is a result of having to use a short-term crown.

A short-term crown is used as a placeholder to safeguard your exposed tooth until your long-term crown can be provided to your dentist. This can take anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks.

The issue with a short-term crown is that they are not very strong, which means that they can break or come loose very easily.

A damaged or loose short-term crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both which can trigger quite a bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves below the short-term crown.

Another source of discomfort originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get quite painful and start to bleed, which also opens the path for possible infections.

Luckily, a same-day crown will provide you with a long-term crown at the end of your very first visit to the dentist.

This gets rid of the requirement for a short-term crown, thus permitting you to avoid all of the discomfort and pain.

Makes Sense

A traditional crown is not a very convenient procedure to have carried out, mostly since it typically takes at least 2 appointments to finish.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will need to make another appointment to have it changed. This can be a huge problem if you have a busy schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that discourages taking some time off in the middle of a hectic work day.

However, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single appointment. This is made possible because numerous dental practitioners will buy the equipment to make their own crowns, rather than having to order crowns from a dental laboratory.

This lets you prevent the inconvenience of needing to potentially spend weeks and numerous appointments to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and finished with.

Speak with your dental practitioner and inquire about the benefits provided by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can supply you with a convenient and fairly pain-free alternative to a standard crown.

The Conversation For Today Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
